Call for October 2024 Bridges Articles

The ACEN is seeking articles for our Fall 2024 edition of Bridges, ACEN’s biannual newsletter to be published in October 2024.

Call for Bridges Article Submission

Bridges is distributed to more than 6,000 members of the nursing education profession and the general public, and we are excited to invite you to share your expertise and experience with the ACEN community!

Submission Deadline:

September 10, 2024

Theme: A Community of Support – Best Practices in Meeting Accreditation Standards

We are seeking submissions that provide practical examples of how you, your staff, and/or your program have created or demonstrated best practices related to nursing accreditation.

For example, have you developed a strategic planning process that provides an opportunity for you and your staff to review your Systematic Plan of Evaluation (see the templates on our website!). How about sharing how you prepared for an upcoming ACEN site visit including how you prepared your staff for the visit?

Other ideas:

  • How you organize or maintain evidence for your self-study report.
  • How you have established committee structures.
  • How you engage with and share data and analysis with communities of interest.
  • How you have implemented strategies for managing preceptors.
  • How you facilitate faculty development in curriculum and assessment including distance education modalities (as applicable).
  • How you orient and mentor faculty.
  • How you address student complaints.
  • How you orient students.
  • How you have implemented innovative and effective clinical experiences and/or partnerships.

Article specifications:

  • 11-pt font, single-spaced
  • 500-1000 words encouraged, slight spillover is OK (1 - 3 pages - it will be reformatted later for the publication)
  • Photos of the author/education space/students preferred to be included with submission
  • A creative title included is preferred, but one will be created if not included
  • For appropriate author credit, please include name, credentials, and job title
  • For any statistics or references included (if applicable), please include a reference (URL is preferred). While a reference list will not be published, hyperlinks will be integrated to enhance your article

Submitting your article:

Articles should be submitted via email to mbelgrave@acenursing.org on or before September 10, 2024.

Our ACEN Nurse Administrators and faculty are innovative experts and have a wealth of experience to share with those in the ACEN community.

Please consider sharing the various best practices that have been developed in your program to assist the program in meeting the accreditation standards.
