The journey of program improvement and peer review begins with eligibility for ACEN Candidacy.

Recognizing that educational institutions are expanding their nursing programs to foster access and that such expansion initiatives increasingly involve global outreach efforts, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) strongly encourages and welcomes international (non-U.S.) nursing programs to pursue international nursing accreditation with the ACEN.

The Observer experience offers immersive engagement in site visit activities, such as attending interviews with college administrators, faculty, staff, and students; reviewing documents in the evidence room; touring educational and clinical facilities; and observing the site visit team’s interactions.

The ACEN accreditation of transition-to-practice programs is founded on the belief that accreditation contributes to the centrality of nursing for the public good and provides for the maintenance and enhancement of transitions that occur throughout the professional life of a nurse.
