Recipient of the 2024 ACEN Lifetime Achievement Award

The ACEN is honored to announce Linda Miles, EdD, RN, as the recipient of the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award!

The ACEN Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals for their service in nursing education, practice, and/or accreditation.

This prestigious award honors an exceptional individual who has made indelible contributions to nursing education, nursing practice, and/or accreditation over a sustained period of time. This year’s award will be presented during the ACEN Immersive Experience in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 24-26, 2024.

Dr. Linda Miles, EdD, RN

Biography:

Dr. Linda Miles, EdD, RN, is the Assistant Chair of the Daytona State College BSN Program. For over 30 years, Dr. Miles has been a shining example of commitment to nursing education and has exemplified leadership, exceptional service, and dedication.

Dr. Miles earned her baccalaureate and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Miles has been employed at Daytona State College since 1999 and has held many positions, such as faculty, nursing chair, dean of health careers, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness, and associate vice president for the college of health and public services.

She served as president for the National Organization for Associated Degree Nursing from 2008-2010, board member for the Florida Center for Nursing from 2012-2020, and an ACEN Commissioner from 2018-2020. She has also served as chair for the Florida Council of Nurse Educator Administrators and has been appointed to many ad hoc committees to represent nursing.

Dr. Miles has served as an ACEN peer evaluator in the roles of site visitor since 2003 and Evaluation Review Panel member since 2008. She has worked with schools in the areas of curriculum development, program accreditation, and data review to demonstrate program needs. Her professional interest is working with faculty to integrate manageable assessment and evaluation processes within the curriculum.
