Shari Gholson

Dr. Shari Gholson, DNP, RN, CNE, is the Associate Director of Volunteer Services for the ACEN. Dr. Gholson has 38 years of nursing experience, including 26 years in nursing education. Most recently, she was a professor of nursing at West Kentucky Community and Technical College and served as Dean of the Nursing and Allied Health Division and Nurse Administrator of the Associate Degree Nursing Program since 2006.

Shari earned her Doctorate in Nurse Practice from Northern Kentucky University, Master’s Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University (pediatric clinical nurse specialist) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Murray State University. She also holds the Certified Nurse Educators credential. Dr. Gholson is a member of multiple state and national professional organizations.

Dr. Gholson has served as an ACEN site visitor since 2013, a team chair since 2015, and an Evaluation Review Panel member since 2016. In addition, she has served two terms as a Board of Commissioner, serving on various committees including the Substantive Change and Nominating Committee board liaison. Most recently she held the position of Vice Chair of the board.
