Voluntary Withdrawal from ACEN Accreditation

Accreditation is a self-regulatory process by which non-governmental agencies recognize educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality. A governing organization seeking initial or continuing accreditation of its nursing program(s) may withdraw from the accreditation process at any time. Within 30 days of receiving official written notification from a governing organization, the ACEN will notify the U.S. Department of Education, the governing organization’s accrediting agency, appropriate state regulatory agencies, and the public of the decision to withdraw from accreditation. If a program allows its accreditation to lapse, the ACEN will consider the program to be voluntarily withdrawn and proceed with notifications within 30 days of the lapse.

The list below identifies those programs that have voluntarily withdrawn from ACEN accreditation as of July 1, 2014. For accreditation information regarding programs that have voluntarily withdrawn prior to this date, please submit a verification request through our website’s Request for Verification of Accreditation Status form . Please refer to the list of ACEN programs for those programs that are currently ACEN-accredited or in Candidate status.
